Background
The client’s primary challenge was aggregating rental investment data for customers in a format that was easy to understand, visually appealing, and most importantly, automated. The former process involved manually gathering data from Rentometer, an online rental market analysis tool, and presenting them in a spreadsheet. This process was time-consuming and lacked the visual appeal that the client desired.
Evaluation and Implementation
To propose a solution, Carney Business Solutions worked with the client to identify the requirements of the reporting along with any possible limitations. Ultimately, the solution entailed using Python and Power BI to aggregate and visualize the rental investment data, as a custom script was required to obtain the data in an automated fashion. Python was used to query Rentometer’s Application Programming Interface (API) for the rental data and transform them such that they could be brought into Power BI. Power BI was then used to aggregate and perform calculations on the data and create a visually appealing report since it integrates well with Python, allows for the creation of stunning visuals, and offers refresh capabilities. The solution was designed to be automated, allowing the client to easily update the data and generate a new report as needed.

The final solution allows ARTEMIS to present rental investment metrics to its potential customers in a format that is both easy to understand and visually appealing. The automated process saves countless hours producing the report and allows the client to update the data quickly and easily.
